Carbs / Carburetors
- Stock jet is a 138. 142
- better with stock exhaust and intake
- 2 turns out on the low speed jet
- The R needle has clips on the top and is thinner, supposedly more power but uses more gas.
If burning too much gas -> check the choke plunger in the carb. Housing is plastic, mine recently cracked causing a rich mixture.
I run a modded scorpion pipe. No airbox top, uni filter. Still 2 turns out on the low speed and a 148 MJ, with a thin washer under the C needle
I get 50 miles per gallon consistently. stock tank I would routinely get 135-140 to reserve and another 25mi before running out.
Somewhere between those extremes ought to get you in the ballpark.

I get 30 to 45mpg on my klxc. 30 when I ride hard and fast and 45 when I baby it and obey the speed limit. your are only working with a 3 gallon tank with reserve and fumes

update: After installation of Wossner 102 piston. Raised CCs to 680cc
The motor is very smooth and the power increase is noticeably better in the 65-85 mph range

Rejet: 148 main, 2 turns+/_ on low speed jet. $5
Open airbox is a dust magnet -> so I Replaced the top with a prefilter consisting of 1/4 aluminum rod bent around the channel of the airbox over which I threaded a piece of panty hose sprayed with filter oil. $5

Re: Carbs / Carburetors
California Bikes:
- Has square box -> it is the charcoal canister
- also has a fuel separator and about a mile of hoses running from carb to tank and petcock
- Looks like someone removed part of it and plugged some of the vacuum lines
- There is diagram for it (will post later or you can pm ask for it)
The Rest of America Bikes:
- have manual pet cock
- The manual hose set up is
- rear tank spigot to rear petcock
- front spigot to top and bottom petcock spigot to carb
- Gas intake to the carb is on the left side
- consists of a plastic fitting that can be swiveled around
- The top front hose from the carb is a vent hose to atmosphere
- There is also a drain hose on the bottom of the carb bowl
- Anything else, stuff a plug in it.
