Tank Options
for more fuel capacity there is a couple of options.
1. Side panel tank + fuel pump
2. Acerbis Tank. Very rare. only found used. Acerbis company doesn't have the mold after the last batch was ordered by a group of KLX owners some time in early or mid 2000s
Acerbis tank has two variations: R model and C model.
Acerbis tank for C model has a space/depressions for turn signals.
Acerbis tank for R model does not.
Thanks between the two model can be made to work with some adjustments.
The R model tank is slightly more compact since the KLX R has a slightly more compact frame.
See postings afterwards for these options

Re: Tank Options
- Side panel tank is a Baja Designs made for Yamaha 426
- Couple of simple brackets and cheap electric fuel pump to replenish the main tank via the charcoal canister vent
- Quick connects for fuel
- Can be removed in about 15 minutes
- Total capacity is 4.4 gal
- A few carb adjustments and it pulls like a train and still gets over 50mpg

Re: Tank Options
The difference between an ACERBIS tank for KLX - C and for KLX - R
These first two pics are for KLX- C. See the depression for turn signals since the KLX C is street legal from the factory and comes with blinkers installed.

Re: Tank Options
ACERBIS tank for KLX - R
note it has no space for turn signals. It is also slightly compact. It is not visible from the picutre but I will explain in later poster how it fits on the frame.

Re: Tank Options
This is what the Acerbis for KLX-R looks like on a KLX-C
which begs the question: Are these two type tanks interchangeable between the KLX-C and KLX-R?
There is an example of one member who put the KLX-R Acerbis tank on his KLX-C and this is what it looks like:
note how there is space between the seat and tank because the tank for the R is slightly more compact since the R klx has a more compact frame.

Re: Tank Options
Process of installing a KLX-R Acerbis tank on KLX-C
- Yes, you can mount a 4 gal tank to the street model
- Not really all that much work, just dollars to spend on an "R" seat
- new white plastic
- bar risers ( doubt this is necessary)
- Can tell lots of stories about setting this thing up
- Bottom line it works well without any serious issues.

Re: Tank Options
Note: forks are 43mm WP fork, front wheel and brake caliper from a '00 KTM RFS. The beauty is there are pleanty of these older forks floating around. After KTM upgraded their spec to 48mm, no one wanted the smaller ones. 'cept me that is...
