CDI KLX-C KLX-R KLR
Generally:
- Some bikes harness has a 2-wire connector and a 6-wire connector
- Some have three connectors.
- Apparently they used a couple of different CDIs over the years.
Specifically:
- CDi for KLX-C has two connectors with 8 conductors
- CDi for KLX-R has three connectors and 7 wires
- They won't interchange
- The R is an AC part the C is DC
Differences that are understandable C has a batter and electric start, blinkers, street headlight etc. R only has kick start, a candle light in the front and a transistor radio light in the back lol
KLR uses a different plug and the wiring schematic is different
Your best bet is to use the part number.
I remember there was some other bike's CDI (yamaha or something that could be used on klx-C) but I don't remember I'll have to look up that info and post it again.

Re: CDI KLX-C KLX-R KLR
I have searched for info on swapping the klr stator and cdi but have never found anyone who has actually tried it . it looks like it would work with the klr harness but Ive been to cheap to buy parts to try it. I would sure like to be able to buy new parts for this.

I think a guy was afraid to fry his KLR CDi, if I had a KLR cdi on hand I would totally try it and see what happens
I don't think it will get fried. but doubt it will work unless what you said you change the whole set up etc
